Monday 19 May 2025--I'm ferrying across the gap from South Baymouth, at the southern tip of Manitoulin, to Tobermory, at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula, this afternoon, and have some time to kill. I spend part of that looking at the village of Manitowaning and the light there.
MS Chi-Cheemaun has been running this route since 1974. I made the passage four times in 1989 and 1994, as part of a TransCanada trip I ran for a company operating camping tours all over North America.
On the way into Tobermory, there is a good view of the Big Tub Light. There are two harbors here; the townsite surrounds Little Tub Harbor. Big Tub Harbor is lined by to-die-for summer cottages.
Tobermory Brewing Company is two doors down from my motel. At last, a decent pub, with a friendly bartender.
